Bild-Werk – an Artistic Meeting Point
Bild-Werk Frauenau offers cultural and artistic meeting point for all including young people.
At a time when establishing a business for artists is conceivable only on the basis of international networking, Bild-Werk Frauenau, and its Academy, are irreplaceable as contact and knowledge platforms, especially for young people. Students and young artists working in glass and other media of the visual arts are supported in expanding their skills in an inspiring atmosphere and on a high, international level.
Promotion of Young Art
Within the framework of scholarship programs, Bild-Werk Frauenau co-operates with the German glass schools in Zwiesel, Rheinbach and Hadamar, the Czech glass schools in Kamenický Šenov, Nový Bor, Železný Brod and Turnov, the University of Plzeň, Faculty of Arts and Design, and with German and international art academies and colleges of design and fine arts.
Every two years Bild-Werk Frauenau organizes an international student award. The prize is aimed at anyone who completes an art-related education at a technical college, art college or university. In 2017, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Bild-Werk Frauenau, the prize was awarded for the first time, and awarded to students of the Academy of Fine Arts Tallinn, Estonia, and the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium.
In 2013, as part of a cooperation project with the Faculty of Education of the West Bohemian University of Pilsen (with EU funding via Interreg IV), a new hot-glass studio was established and we could introduce young people to the potential of working with hot glass.
Pilot Projekt „Glass Works“
In 2018 Bild-Werk Frauenau submitted an application to the European Union (Förderprogramm Kreatives Europa Kultur) and the Free State of Bavaria proposing a project linking the future prospects of young glass makers through intensive artistic training, cross-border networking between art, design and manufacturing and start-up workshops at an international level. If successful, in addition to the Summer Academy Bild-Werk Frauenau, the European project "Glass Works - Glass Works - Training | Networking | Taking Roots" would be established at the Frauenau site.
Bild-Werk Frauenau offers students a discount of 20% on all courses, and a reduced admission fee for cultural events.
