Academy and Courses
Courses at Bild-Werk Frauenau: experimental - interdisciplinary – international
The courses of the International Summer Academy Bild-Werk Frauenau take place in four course blocks from April / May to September and last between one week and two and a half weeks.
Further workshops are offered in the spring and autumn as weekend courses, open work stages at the glass furnace or as master classes.
The course programs of Bild-Werk Frauenau are aimed equally at ambitious art enthusiasts and professional artists.
A main focus is on courses in traditional and innovative designs of hot and cold glass in two and three dimensions: in glass cutting and engraving, flat glass design and stained glass, vitreography, kiln casting and in the shaping of hot glass at the furnace and in front of the lamp. Courses in classical and new fields of fine arts (painting, drawing and printmaking, sculpture in wood, stone, ceramics, bronze, mixed media and installation), and in other expressive media such as singing and theater, create exciting cross-connections. Interdisciplinary courses stretch the possibilities of media and materials.
The courses are led by renowned artists from Europe and the wider world, and are characterized by an inspiring atmosphere. They offer a lot of freedom to acquire craft and innovative techniques, to develop their own artistic potential and to develop in creative, international exchange. They offer time and space for experimentation, for spontaneity, for exchange and social interaction in the atmospheric ambience of former glassworks buildings. In well-equipped workshops, the teaching of technical-manual and theoretical basics is not neglected. The participants are accommodated in Frauenau. Camping is also possible. (see Terms and Conditions).
