Bild-Werk Frauenau Student Prize 2017 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of The International Summer Academy Bild-Werk Frauenau. To coincide we announce a new Biennial Student Prize. WHO? The prize is open to anybody currently, (at the time of application), in full time education at an art school or university anywhere. The prize is NOT limited to glass. The prize will give young artists a unique opportunity to get involved in a thriving international community, to learn new skills and develop further their creative practice. (Note: In 2017 Bild-Werk Frauenau offers all students a reduction of 20% on all courses.) HOW? Bild-Werk invites for a digital submission illustrating up to a maximum of three recent works (not older than 2 years) with up to three images each (not bigger than 1.5MB), which demonstrate originality, creativity and excellence, - in any medium. All applications must be from students in full time education at the time of application. A teacher’s note stating that it is an original piece of work by the student must accompany the submission. Bild-Werk Frauenau offers three prizes: 1st Prize: A 2017 Bild-Werk Frauenau Summer Academy course. 2nd Prize: 200€ towards a 2017 Bild-Werk Frauenau course 3rd Prize: A 2017 Bild-Werk Frauenau Weekend course. An expert jury will meet to select the Prize Winners. The decision will be announced on 1st May 2017. A prize giving ceremony will take place during the selected 1st prize Bild-Werk session. Im Rahmen der laufenden Meisterklassen finden zwei öffentliche Veranstaltungen im Akademiegebäude Tom's Hall statt, zu der wir alle Interessierten herzlich einladen:
Donnerstag | 3.11. | 20 Uhr Moderierte Gesprächsrunde: Zwischen Kunst, Design, Handwerk und Manufakturproduktion: Erfahrungen und Möglichkeiten von Kooperationen Samstag | 5.11. | 17 Uhr Die Künstler der Meisterklassen stellen die entstandenen Werke aus und diskutieren mit regionalen Glasschaffenden technische und gestalterische Fragen. 19 Uhr, Ausklang des Symposiums mit Buffet Alle Glas- und Kunstschaffenden, die in der Glasregion Bayerischer Wald ansässig sind, erhalten ab dem 17. Perspectives of Graal Glass: Symposium and Master Classes at Bild-Werk Frauenau Oct 30, Colloquium Art ǀ Design ǀ Manufacture During a one-day colloquium international glass historians and experts will pursue Graal glass and its variants to discuss the interface of design, glass art, industry and craft. Current examples of collaborations between art and the glass industry, of cultural heritage and studio glass lead to the discussion of future opportunities for these connections. The podium discussion will pick up on these question in the context of the East Bavarian “glass crisis”. The detailled proramme is available as pdf download under 'Service - Press and Downloads' Oct 31 – Nov 5, 2016 Six master classes of Bild-Werk Frauenau will combine processes in different glass studios with the hot glass studio. With glass engraving, glass painting, silk-screening, cold working techniques, pate de verre and lamp working blanks will be designed and and then picked up and finished by experienced glass blowers.
