Risk & Resonance – The Stained Glass Experience
In 2025 the experience of stained glass will be in focus at Bild-Werk Frauenau. Between risk and resonance, Bild-Werk takes you on a discovery tour of traditional and new pathways in the oldest, yet the most contemporary and diverse artistic medium that glass has to offer. In teaching, discussion, professional exchange and international networking we will span art and craft, time and space, the secular and sacred, and reach out towards new futures for stained glass.
We create through light, colour and space, in narrative and atmospheric expression, painting and decorating, cold, warm and hot work in two and three dimensions, in autonomous artwork, architecture and installation.
The project is aimed at experienced stained glass makers, and all artists, painters, and students in glass and art. European art and glass schools are encouraged to inquire about sending students and teachers through an Erasmus learning mobility program.
Our programme contains three exciting international courses during the summer, culminating in an autumn master class and a one-day symposium at Bild-Werk Frauenau.

RISK & RESONANCE – A Symposium for Stained Glass
Artists and makers, manufacturers and institutions in education, studio glass, public art and architecture, meet for a one-day symposium at Bild-Werk on November 1, 2025. We will round up the experiences of a summer in stained glass; expert lectures and discussion rounds address contemporary issues of maintaining heritage, public recognition and visibility, promoting of young talents, and border-crossing networking and exchange.
RISK & RESONANCE aims at exploring new futures for stained glass and glass painting in their many facets, and at making Frauenau a forum and hotspot for stained glass and glass painting. Full details will be given in due course.
The project collaborates with the Lamberts Glass Factory in Waldsassen, Bavaria, who took initiative towards the recognition of hand glass making, and especially mouth-blown sheet glass, as intangible cultural heritage on the German national UNESCO list.
