INFORMATION
Schedule
During the courses the Bild-Werk studios and workshops are open all day as well as in the evenings. The schedule for each individual course will be set by the course instructor, together with the group. Formal teaching starts from 09:00 and 10:00 and ends between 17:00 and 18:00. All studios remain open at weekends, in the long courses there is usually no formal teaching over the weekend. In some courses a working schedule is necessary for technical reasons.
Hot Glass Courses
In the overall offer of the course, (including demonstrations, well-equipped workplaces for preparation and post-processing, additional activities), the participants can practice with the guidance of the instructors and assistants at the glassmaker pipe and assist each other. For technical reasons fixed times are allocated here. In the 17-day courses, and in the interest of the teaching staff, during the weekends there are no blowing times for participants. Any exceptions are at the discretion of the course leader.
Communication
As far as possible, the academy will be conducted bilingually in German and English. There is always a way of communication.
Accompanying program and social events
In addition to the course work, various related events are offered (e.g. evening illustrated lectures, life drawing, and shared meals). Social get-togethers are also an important part of life at Bild-Werk.
Visits and Open Day
We welcome all visitors on the “Open Day”, 12th August 2018. However, in the interest of participants, visitors at all other times are requested to first contact the office.
For safety reasons, dogs (except therapeutic companion or guide dogs) are not allowed in the Academy buildings.
We ask you not to bring children to the workshops.
Travelling to Frauenau
Frauenau is located in the southeast of Germany, near the Czech border. The nearest airports are Munich, Nuremberg, Prague and Linz. From Munich airport take the shuttle bus to the train station in Freising, (do not drive to the Munich central station), and from there take the train via Plattling and Zwiesel. From the east you reach Frauenau by train via Železná Ruda.
Accommodation
Frauenau offers accommodation facilities of all categories, at reasonable prices within walking distance of the academy. Please note the advertisements in this program. When arranging accommodation, Tourist Information Frauenau can also assist you.

Camping
In July and August there is a possibility to camp on the academy grounds for a fee of 90 € or 45 € per person per session depending on the course length. There is an additional charge for camper caravans as well as for electricity. Washing and laundry facilities are available.
Cooking and food
In both Academy buildings there is a large kitchen, refrigerators and storage facilities for groceries, which are available to all participants for self-catering.
TERMS OF SERVICE
§ 1 Subject of the contract
(1) Subject matter of the contract are the glass and art courses offered by Bild-Werk Frauenau. The courses of the International Summer Academy Bild-Werk Frauenau take place in four course blocks from May / June to September and last between 5 and 17 days. Further courses are offered as shorter workshops in autumn and winter or as master classes.
(2) The Academy is open to all participants from the age of 18 years.
§ 2 Course fees and material costs
(1) The amount of the course fees is shown in the course announcement. Course fees may incur additional material costs, depending on the type of course. In some courses basic material is included in the course price. What is consumed in addition to the amount allocated is charged for in addition. In many course fees no material is calculated. There, the material is charged according to actual consumption. Examples include: coloured glass, wood, stone and bronze, glass blanks (block or blown), painting and drawing materials, canvases and paper. Painting and drawing materials can be brought or purchased from the well-equipped Bild-Werk shop. At the beginning of the course you will be informed about which materials will be charged for. If you have any questions please contact the Bild-Werk office.
(2) The course fees do not include accommodation and meals.
§ 3 Registration and conclusion of contract
(1) For your registration, please use the registration form in the catalogue or as a download on our website, and send it as a letter, fax or as a scan by email to Bild-Werk. With your legally binding registration you agree to the specifications and general terms and conditions of Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V.
(2) The contract between the contracting parties is concluded with the confirmation of the application by the Bild-Werk Frauenau.
§ 4 Reductions
Bild-Werk Frauenau offers pupils, students and unemployed a 20% discount. In addition, members of Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V. receive a course reduction of 25 € once a year.
§ 5 Payment of course fees
Upon receipt of the registration confirmation by Bild-Werk, a reservation fee of 30% of the course fee is due. The remaining course fee is to be transferred no later than two weeks before the beginning of the course.
§ 6 Cancellation of a registration
If you are unable to attend a course you must inform Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V. in writing. In case of cancellation, a cancellation fees of 30% of the course fee will be charged. If the cancellation is made less than ten days before the beginning of the course, half of the course fee will be due. If there is no written cancellation at the beginning of the course, or if only part of the course is taken, the full course fee is payable. The contractual partner is free to prove that no damage has been caused by cancellation, or that the damage incurred by Bild-Werk Frauenau is lower than the required sum.
§ 7 Cancellation of courses by Bild-Werk Frauenau
Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V. reserves the right to fill the courses within the available places. With less than three registered students, illness of the course leader or impossibility of implementation, the association reserves the right to cancel at short notice. Paid course fees will be refunded in this case. A transfer to another course is also possible, should that be desired and free places are available. Further mutual claims are excluded. Please note when booking accommodation that short term cancellations are possible.
§ 8 Liability
(1) Bild-Werk Frauenau has not taken out accident insurance for participants, who are not insured for accidents during the course and the excursions and events that are part of the course.
(2) Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V. is not liable for lost objects of any kind.
(3) The participants undertake to participate in the safety instructions at the beginning of the course, and to use the workshops and machines according to the specifications of the staff and teachers of the association. Remarks and information provided by course instructors are for the sole purpose of directing course performance, and no liability claims can be derived from them.
(4) For damages based on a negligent breach of non-essential contractual obligations or non-essential obligations in the context of contract negotiations by Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V, its legal representatives or vicarious agents, the liability for indirect and untypical consequential damages is excluded, and otherwise the amount is limited to the typical contract average damage. The disclaimer of liability does not apply if Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V. is responsible for intent and gross negligence and for direct damage to life, limb and health. Incidentally, a liability of the association is excluded, unless there are mandatory statutory provisions.
§ 9 Use of chain saws
The use of chainsaws is only allowed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment. Working with chainsaws is allowed to persons who can prove the completion of a chainsaw course. Exceptions may, however, be made depending on the qualification of the participant. With regard to other course participants, chainsaws can only be used at fixed times.
§ 10 Use of photos and video recordings
For documentation and promotional purposes, Bild-Werk Frauenau and its employees can create photos and video recordings during course or an Academy event. These are published in common digital media, (Facebook, Twitter), and / or print media (including trade journals, newspapers, posters, flyers). By registering the contractor agrees to any such use unless it is expressly contradicted before the beginning of the course.
§ 11 Jurisdiction
Any existing or future legal relationships shall be governed exclusively by German law. Jurisdiction is the place of Bild-Werk Frauenau e.V.
